Anniversary logo contest
WINSTED — The town of Winchester will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its incorporation in 2021. The town’s Winchester250 Committee has launched an anniversary logo competition. The committee is looking for a logo design for the 250th anniversary that can be used online and in print by participating groups organizing and promoting anniversary activities. According to the committee’s press release, the design should “express both honoring our past and building our future.” The competition is open to all students who live in town and attend the Winchester Public Schools, The Gilbert School, Northwest Regional 7, Explorations Charter School, St. Anthony’s School, Northwestern Connecticut Community College or are home schooled. Artwork should be submitted digitally as high-resolution files at https://winchester250logodesigncompetition.artcall.org. A printed application form is available by request at Winchester250@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2019. A cash prize of $250 is offered.
WINSTED — The Soldiers’ Monument Commission will be holding its annual Cemetery Walk on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Burying Ground, located at 61 Park Place. The event includes costumed interpreters representing residents from the past who will gather at gravestones where they will talk about residents who lived throughout the history of the town. Admission is $5 per person with admission free for children under 16 years-old.
Lions Club Halloween dance
WINSTED — A Halloween dance to benefit the Winsted Lions Club will be held on Friday, Oct. 18 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Chatterly’s Banquet Facility at 371 Pinewoods Rd. in Torrington. Halloween Harvest Festival at Camp Jewell
COLEBROOK — Camp Jewell YMCA will be holding its Halloween Harvest festival on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will include hay rides, trick-or-treating and pumpkin carving. Admission to the event is free. For more information call 860-379-2782.
Trunk or treat
WINSTED — The town’s annual Trunk or Treat event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rowley Street Playground. The rain date for the event is on Monday, Oct. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. A costume contest will be held at the playground’s building. Baked potato dinner and concert
WINSTED — St. James Episcopal Church, located at 160 Main Street, will be hosting a baked potato dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 12 years old. Children 3 years-old and under are free.
The church is holding an Indian Summer Concert on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5, no admission fee for children 4 years-old and under.

NEW HARTFORD — The New Hartford Women’s Club will be holding its adults only Halloween bash on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Berkshire Hall in Brodie Park from 8 p.m. to midnight.
