WINSTED — One week after members of the Winsted Peace Action Group held a protest against President Donald Trump’s military attack that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, three members of Operation Save America held a pro-Trump rally at East End Park on Sunday, Jan. 12.
The group, which consisted of two Winsted residents and one Torrington resident, also held signs advocating against abortion.
One sign read “Pro-God, Pro-Trump, Pro-Life, Pro-America” and another read “Genesis 1:27 Made in the image of God.”
“We are standing for the Lord Jesus, the unborn who are being slaughtered in America,” group member Lorna Neag said. “Sixty-three million since Roe v. Wade since 1973. We are also standing for our president who is doing an awesome job. But he’s been attacked since day one. The economy is better than it’s been in 50 years and he’s for the unborn. He loves the Constitution as is and doesn’t like communists.”
“We’re here to support what wants to support in this country,”
“God wants us to stand for truth, righteousness, and justice because that is what he is about,” group member Stephanie Hester said. “He is a God of love but he is also God who brings justice to the earth. When there is injustice done, the word of God clearly says that we must stand against injustice on all fronts. Because it is the church of God and the true Christians that need to stand and be an example and the light to the world of love first, but also the truth. Love cannot be without truth and truth cannot be without love.”
