RIVERTON — For over 30 years, the Riverton Theater has held performances of “A Christmas Carol” every December.
The performances benefit local charity the Tiny Tim Fund, which assists local families in the Northwest Corner.
However, during the 11 months in the year that the Riverton Theater group does not perform, the group has to pay $1,600 for a storage unit to house the set, props and other materials for its yearly “Christmas Carol” performances.
In order to raise funds to pay for a permanent storage shed, the group will be holding a benefit dinner at Parrott Delaney Tavern on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m.
“The children in our group said that if we raised funds to purchase a storage shed, we wouldn’t need to pay $1,600 a year for a storage unit,” event co-organizer Mike Stapleton said. “This would mean $1,600 extra a year for the Tiny Tim Fund.”
In order to build the shed, the group needs to raise $4,000.
After the event, funds will still be raised by the group in order to build the shed.
