NORTHWEST CORNER — The Northwest Arts Council has created a new artists shop directory online at artsnwct.org/shops.
The directory includes over 250 e-commerce shops by businesses and artists in the Northwest Corner, and it includes merchandise including original art, prints, furniture, jewelry, pottery, books, and more.
According to a press release issues by the council, the purpose of the directory is to help supplement income for artists who have lost revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Listings will be provided as a free service through the end of 2020.
Artists and creative businesses can apply to be in the directory at artsnwct.org/get-your-shop-listed.

Friendly Hands Food Bank Farmers to Families dates
TORRINGTON — The Friendly Hands Food Bank’s Farmers to Families Food Bank program will take place at 500 Technology Park on the following dates: Saturday, Oct. 3, Saturday, Oct. 10, Saturday, Oct. 17, Saturday, Oct. 24. Road line painting in Winsted begins on Sept. 22
WINSTED — Crews from the town’s Department of Public Works will be painting crosswalks, stop bars, and lines from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. starting on Thursday, Sept. 22 to Saturday, Sept. 24. For more information call the department at 860-379-4070.

Beardsley Library update
WINSTED/PRESS RELEASE — The Beardsley Library re-opened its doors to the
public on June 30 with contactless curbside pickup of library materials remaining
an option for patrons.
Throughout the summer, programs were offered virtually or outdoors and will continue with that format throughout the fall. To find out more about upcoming events, visit the website at www.beardsleylibrary.org and click on the calendar.
The library is also pleased to now offer a new option for individuals, families, or other
small groups to reserve time in its new Smart Space room.
The Smart Space was created through a grant and donation funded project to renovate an area of the building for use by the community for such things as creative pursuits, STEM learning, skill sharing, and other similar endeavors. In addition to the Smart Space, the community now has access to a quiet study area by appointment.
The library recently added two new seating areas with picnic tables. The WiFi is also
accessible in the outdoor areas. All areas and equipment are sanitized between uses.
The library’s hours continue to be temporarily limited to Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Winchester Registrars to hold session
WINSTED — The Winchester Registrars will hold a session on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from noon until 2:00 p.m. This session is being held for the purpose of completing a preliminary registry list for the Nov. 3 presidential election.

Narcan administration virtual training
WINSTED/PRESS RELEASE — Northwestern Connecticut Community College (NCCC) in collaboration with the McCall Center for Behavioral Health and funding from the Connecticut Healthy Campus Initiative – Campus Opioid Education and Awareness Program, will be offering FREE life-saving Naloxone (Narcan) training for people 18 years of age or older who live in Litchfield County and/or is a student at NCCC.
When administered correctly, the nasal spray Narcan restores breathing that has been dangerously slowed by an overdose of heroin or prescription painkillers. Narcan can work within a minute or two, giving emergency responders time to get the person to a hospital.
Residents who participate in the free trainings learn how to administer Narcan. Residents who do not have health insurance, will receive a free Narcan kit. Residents who have health insurance will be instructed on how to obtain a kit at a participating pharmacy through their health insurance.
The Support And Resource Team and the Campus Assessment, Response and Evaluation (SART/CARE) team is sponsoring this virtual Narcan Training.
