WINSTED — In a ceremony at Town Hall on Friday, April 23, municipal staff recognized and honored former Town Manager Robert Geiger.
Geiger started serving as an interim town manager in November 2015 before being named permanent town manager in February 2016.
April 23 marked the last day of Geiger’s time in Town Hall. with former Bolton Town Administrator Joshua Steele Kelly taking over.
Geiger has been a Barkhamsted resident for almost 40 years.
He has worked for several companies throughout the years, at times serving as a CEO and as a vice-president.
Previously, he has served as the president of the Board of Directors of the Beardsley and Memorial Library and also was a member of Barkhamsted’s Economic Development Commission and the president of the Winchester Housing Development Corporation.
At the ceremony, Mayor Candy Perez declared April 23 as Bob Geiger Day in Winsted.
“It would be a significant understatement that Bob has changed Winsted for the better,” Perez said. “There’s not enough words or time that we can talk about the changes. Five years ago the town was struggling to recover, yet he believed in our future. It was really hard to get anything positive anywhere. But the whole conversation has changed and it has changed because of the work that he has done due to the significant work he has done with the selectmen, the community, and the Northwest Corner of Connecticut.”
“Thank you to everyone,” Geiger said to the gathering. “It has been an awesome marker in my life.”
