NORTHWEST CORNER — To promote the richness of creative talent in the Northwest Corner, two long-time local media hosts have teamed up to create The Local Artist Show.
Wilbert “Wibo” Boles, co-host of the long-running City Views television show, and longtime radio show host Rich Cyr, host of The Claw’s Corner, and various other shows through the years.
Together, the two are co-hosts of The Local Artist Show, to promote local talent to a wider audience.
“We need something that covers local artists around here,” Boles said. “Everything starts on the local level. Some people think that music and entertainment start at the top level. It doesn’t work that way. It always starts locally.”
“There is so much hidden talent in the area that nobody knows or hears about,” Cyr said. “All they hear is what’s on the radio and they go ‘oh, that’s all there is out there when it comes to everything.’ There is so much more talent out there and we want to uncover it. I want to expose these people.”
“We want to put artists out there and make them big because everything always starts locally,” Boles added. “Everything always starts locally.”
The first episode includes local musician David Quick, who over the years has opened for James Taylor, Eddie Rabbit, and Arlo Guthrie. The second episode includes artist and the creator of Mental Health Connecticut’s “Mending Art” program Amy “L.A.” Smith. Additional shows will be uploaded to Cyr’s YouTube channel.
