NEW HARTFORD — Local artist Pamela Vitale has opened a new art studio gallery on 21 Cottage Street showcasing her work, and the work of other local artists.
Vitale, an Eastchester, New York native, has lived in the Northwest Corner for some time but recently moved to New Hartford last fall.
She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New York City School of Visual Arts and has worked for various companies as a creative consultant including Renegade Media, and the Spotzer Media Group.
Vitale’s gallery includes her work, along with the work of her friends Robyn Valente, Karolina Andersen, and many others.
“I started painting when I was very young and I wanted to go to a school of visual arts since I was 12,” Vitale said at her gallery’s opening on Thursday, June 10. “I’ve been painting pretty much since forever. I’m going to have regular monthly shows and events, maybe even classes, poetry readings, and music. But the whole thing is going to center around art and food.”
Vitale said that “food is art, just in another medium.”
At her gallery opening, Vitale’s friends Lisl Meredith Huebner and Robyn Valente served up a moss cake to visitors.
“I really would love people to fall in love with art, whether it would be mine or anyone else’s,” Vitale said.
