Torrington: The official unveiling of the city’s Civil Rights Mural will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 11 a.m. at 42 Water Street. For more information on the mural read this article.
Norfolk: The Norfolk Library in partnership with Norfolk UCC will celebrate Juneteenth, Emancipation Day, on Saturday, June 19, at 11:00 a.m. with a program of Dagomba music on library grounds. Performed by Serena and Enoch Agbeli, a native of Ghana, Dagomba music comes from the northern region of Ghana. The Agbelis will be using two drums, the lunga and gungon, known as talking drums because the rhythms recreate the language of the Dagomba people and have been a tool in passing down their history. Serena (formerly Serena Sinclair) will also play the gyil, an African xylophone from the Dagarti and Lobi people of Ghana.
Winsted: The Winchester Republican Town Committee will be holding its Juneteenth commemoration ceremony at Soldiers’ Monument on Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m.
