WINSTED — Three people were arrested for illegal possession of fireworks on Sunday, July 4, according to Winchester Police Department Chief William Fitzgerald.
According to state law, fireworks are not allowed for use by non-professional, non-licensed users.
In an email, Chief Fitzgerald wrote that the department handled 26 calls of fireworks complaints on July 4, compared to 18 calls in 2020.
According to Chief Fitzgerald, the following three residents were arrested on July 4 for illegal possession of fireworks: Nicholas Sforza of 132 Forest Ave., David Rosado of 562 Main St., and Andrew Adil of 944 Ridge Rd, Wethersfield.
Fitzgerald added that the court date for Sforza, Rosado, and Adil, will be on Monday, July 19, at Litchfield Judicial District Courthouse at Torrington.
