Gas Prices Climb in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island

Drivers across New England are feeling the pinch at the pump as gasoline prices surge in several states.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gas in Massachusetts jumped nine cents in the past week, now sitting at $3.08. Despite the increase, that’s still 14 cents below the national average.

In Connecticut, prices are even higher, with the average gallon costing $3.19, while Rhode Island drivers are paying around $3.09 per gallon.

While prices are on the rise, they’re still lower than last summer. At this time last year, Massachusetts drivers were paying about $3.43 per gallon.

Analysts say fluctuations in supply, summer travel demand, and oil market trends continue to influence the current spike.
