Tyler Wall Dies During MrBeast Challenge, Leaving Behind Legacy of Kindness and Inspiration

Tyler Wall, a 38-year-old physical trainer from Southington, Connecticut, died unexpectedly while participating in a high-stakes MrBeast challenge that tasked a contestant with losing 100 pounds in one year to win $250,000.

Wall served as the coach and constant companion to Madj, a friend of YouTuber MrBeast, who was isolated in a facility equipped with gym equipment and healthy meals. More than just a trainer, Wall became Madj’s motivator, teammate, and close friend—celebrating victories together and even diving into piles of cash during filming.

But on Day 85 of the challenge, Madj received heartbreaking news: Tyler had passed away. According to Newsweek, his death was ruled accidental, caused by mitragynine toxicity, a compound found in the herbal substance kratom. Mitragynine, which interacts with opioid receptors in the brain, has been increasingly linked to overdose deaths in the U.S., particularly when combined with other substances.

Despite the loss, Madj chose to continue the challenge in Wall’s memory. “We’re not pulling the plug on this,” he told the producer, visibly emotional. “I can’t let (Wall) down.” He fulfilled that promise, completing the challenge in just 178 days.

The video ends with a heartfelt tribute:
“In loving memory of Coach Tyler Wall, a true source of kindness and inspiration ♥.”

The video’s description also honors Wall:
“It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Coach Tyler Wall. Coach Wall was a remarkable individual whose kindness and genuine spirit touched all who knew him. His loss has left our hearts heavy with grief.”

MrBeast’s team consulted Wall’s family before deciding to share the video. With grace, they agreed, believing Tyler would have wanted his positive message to continue impacting others.

Back home, his family and friends are doing just that. A GoFundMe organized by his sister Kaitlyn Lindsay has raised over $27,000—surpassing its $20,000 goal. The extra funds will go toward an educational trust for Tyler’s beloved niece and nephew.

“He was a loyal friend, with true depth of love and passion for his people,” Kaitlyn wrote. “You were his people… The world was his playground, and you were his playmates, his lovers, his homies, his best friends, his family. There are oceans of shattered hearts, running currents throughout the world.”

Tyler Wall may be gone, but his influence—and the love he gave so freely—continues to ripple far beyond the challenge he left behind.
