Connecticut – Local police are sounding the alarm about a growing crime trend known as jugging, where criminals target people withdrawing money from banks and ATMs.
“Jugging is when suspects wait near a bank or ATM and watch for customers withdrawing money,” explained Berlin police. “The suspects then follow the customer, looking for an opportunity to burglarize their vehicles or rob them.”
Authorities are urging the public to stay alert and immediately secure any withdrawn cash.
They also recommend avoiding the use of cellphones or headphones while at banks or ATMs to stay aware of potential threats.
Additionally, if you notice someone or a vehicle following you in a parking lot, report the activity to law enforcement right away.
