A child reported missing from Georgia for over a year has been found safe in Connecticut.
The child was taken on October 23, 2023, by the mother—who did not have custody—during a scheduled visit. She fled from Cobb County, Georgia, to Connecticut, violating a court-ordered custody agreement.
Despite court orders demanding the child’s return to the father, the mother refused, claiming she was a sovereign citizen and did not recognize the court’s authority. An arrest warrant for interstate interference with custody was issued on February 17.
U.S. Marshals joined the search on May 6. On June 18, 2025, the mother was arrested during a traffic stop in East Hartford for the outstanding warrant.
At first, she refused to tell officers where the child was. Following an investigation, the child was found safe with a relative in East Hartford.
That same day, the East Hartford Police Department and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families reunited the child with their biological father.
