A Hartford man was arrested Thursday after officers reportedly witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction on Wethersfield Avenue.
Around 12:56 p.m. Wednesday, Connecticut State Police detectives saw the suspected deal and followed the vehicle involved. They stopped the car and identified the driver as 54-year-old Jose Ramirez, the only person in the vehicle.
During the stop, officers allegedly found about 20 grams of suspected fentanyl along with various packaging materials. Ramirez was taken into custody and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on July 18.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the Connecticut State Police Bureau of Special Investigations and Hartford Police, with support from the State Police Aviation Unit. The effort is part of an ongoing initiative to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in the city.
